How you met your partner

Well im up so i may as well post something for you lot to get your teeth into

So how did you meet your partner?

This is how i met claire, even after three years of being together, how we met still seems so strange, even fated somehow.

Well you know how it is im sure, we all get to some point in our life where you just feel as if you are standing still, for me that was about 4 years ago. i lived by myself, spent too many hours in front of this thing and was slowly losing touch with life and the outside world. So one day i thought i would do something about it, nothing drastic like going outside I didnt drink or go clubbing and stuff, at 44 (as i was then) i just felt i was past all that, and im on the quiet side anyway so was never my thing, but i decided that i really needed to meet new friends. so off i went looking for a friendship site, something i could join and talk very much as i do on the forum, slowly getting to know people.

I found one called midsummers eve, it seemed a really nice place, just ordinary people talking about ordinary things, even helping each other when they needed to. nothing heavy, just nice. so i joined as Wingman which seems to be a internet handle i have stuck with.

anyway on this site they had this search profile thing, in which you could search for people who you might have something in common with, so off i went filling in the details of that, and pressed search. first person i get is this 31 year old woman under the name of Spiritlove. as soon as i looked at her something inside me lit up, almost as if i knew her, which of course i didnt. i remember thinking at the time " blimey is this how sad you are now stephen, she is only 31 and your are 44, get a grip, she wouldnt look twice at you anyway" so off i went searching some more, trying to find someone i could maybe say hello to. In the end i just went onto the forums and just spoke in general to everybody, slowly getting to know people, as you do in these places. Every now and then though, this spiritlove would post something, and yet again i would find myself going back to her profile and taking a sneaky look. spiritloves profile stated very clearly too that she was only on the site to make new friends, and nothing else, so a double blow to this strange pull towards her. Feeling more and more silly everytime i felt this (what could only be described as a crush on somebody i had never even spoke to) The weeks went by and still i hadnt even dared to speak to her, not even in passing on the posts she was making in the same topics that i was on. everytime i saw her name i would almost go tingly and have to fight this pull i had. At one point i almost left the site thinking i was just not cut out for this stuff, and for weeks and weeks and didnt go on it at all, but could never bring myself to close my account down completely, and to this day ive never understood why.

It was late one night, and i was on this site, just going around the post just trying to kill a few hours finding topics i could comment on, when all of a sudden i get this Pm from spiritlove, asking me if i had a Doppleganger as everytime she logged on, i was always there smiling at her with my photo. i almost fell off my chair, i just couldnt believe she had PM'd me.

this was the strange part too, as she admitted that she had spotted me weeks before and couldnt shift me from her thoughts as i couldnt from mine. we spoke for hours and hours that night, and the very next day we spoke for hours and hours. the strange part was that spiritlove had the same feelings for me too, and thought that i would never speak to her, i had missed too that she was delibratly trying to post in the same topics as me so i would speak to her. of course i never did, i was too afraid to as something about her felt too important, which made it feel unusual.

In the three years we have been togther now, we have never spent a day where we havent spoken or been with each other. spiritlove (claire) explains that we are not only soul mates but twins flames and thats why from the very beggining we were destined to be together.

Of course we now have a 7 months old beautiful little boy, and the love we share is not something you can describe, its just something that is, inbuilt and ever lasting. spiritlove became not only my soul love, but my best friend for always.

Wow, that was fate! how lovely for you both,I met my husband over the net too,his opening line was Happy new year! (it was 2nd Jan 2000)We met on ICQ and chatted for four months before meeting. He had a baby of 10 weeks old when we first started chatting and i didnt want anything complecated.i found out in time that he and the mother were not together (long story) my children were a boy 18, two girls/15/12 so big difference in age from his.My girls loved his son on sight and still think the world of him now. we have been together 8 years now and married for three.i was 42 then, so i wasnt one for night clubs etc, funny how thing work isnt it,he's a lovely man and so kind to me (not what i was used too,bless him.)

Awwww bless him, always makes me smile our story. that picture was the day we got engaged, a couple of days before my birthday. We are both wearing the same tops we had in our profile pictures where we met. xxxxx

That's lovely Spiritlight. It's amazing how many people do meet over the net these days.I suppose it saves alot of time messing about getting to know each other and finding your not compatiable.Some people can just click, like we did, almost as if we were meant for each other, like you and your husband.

which reminds me, where's your wedding picture gone?

Lol, it was supposed to be of Ashley,my step son, didnt realise till i saw it sliding up the side i soon took it down, we got married in Florida and he was ring boy its was lovely i'll see if i can find the pic i wanted to put up.

Oh i thought it was a lovely pic of all of you. you can put as many as you want up.Doesnt matter what it is.

I thought you were in the USA or something, could tell by the building behind you both, certainly wasnt typical british arcitecture! (cant spell)

we got married in a gazebo over looking lake Jasmin,it was lovely,then had a barbeque by the pool (we hired two villas to accomodate evryone!) very low key just how i wanted it.

Barbeque Now your'e talking, sounds like a lovely wedding day. i am partial to a bit of wedding cake and royal icing. But give me a burger anyday

Awww Claire and Wingman. What a really sweet story. I bet that had Claire crying it would have done me if i had a partner that is too busy being single.

It definately sounds like you were meant to be together. I have seen your pictures, they really nice and those of your son Nathan is it, are just so cute! love babies.

I best get searching for a partner then!

is this what happens when you meet someone! hehe....you get talking about burgers and wedding cakes! haha....think i'll not bother lol.

I'm only joking, can see how special you all are, and what a lovely story tyed by Wingman...im not being sexist or anything with this comment,but i was quite suprised to read such a moving story,almost a 'love' story and nearly had me crying at the end....i would have expected it to have come from Claire rather than Wingman (Stephen) and thats not a judgement on you both as people, was just suprised a, if i can say this..'a man' wrote it and not the woman. (us being into that soppy stuff and all that!)

I certainly would like Spiritlights wedding though, over looking a beautiful lake in another country,how lovely that is. Shame i missed the photo.

I will be celebrating my fourth wedding anniversary in August...wow that is next month. We've been together for 12 years though. We met in a cafe one evening and barely said two words to one another as he (Mark) was leaving just as I got there. About a week later we ran into each other at a club and we have been together ever since that night. We got married in a little wedding chapel in Niagara Falls and the rest they say is history!

well it sounds as though you and Mark were obviously destined to be together Faeriesrfree.They say if its ment to be then you'll find each other again if you happened to miss them the first time.Your wedding sounds lovely. Congratulations on your 4 years of marriage,although its probably more like 12yrs seeing you've been together all that time anyway.

We got married on August 14th. Works out kind of nice because it makes Valentine's Day our half way marker.
