Windows live messenger help?

Post by Pendle on Mon Mar 23, 2009 4:06 pm

Waaaaaaaaah! No

I've got messenger, i've done everything I can think of, but the damn thing won't let me sign in. I put my name and password in, and then it just won't go any further, just highlights my email in blue (and yes it's correctly spelt etc) no ping, no 'we cannot sign you in' and no 'check email/password' type errors.

Any idea's anyone please confused

Simple answer, make sure you caps lock isnt on....... Cool

Not so simple answer........ Rolling Eyes

1. The date on your computer needs to be set properly -- double click the clock verify that

the time and date are set.

2. Clear your IE cache and cookies -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then

Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the

Delete Cookies button.

3. Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then

Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check

for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL

3.0' is checked, then click OK.

4. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:

regsvr32 softpub.dll

then click OK

Could be just a MSN fault though as they have been going through lots of changes lately

I think you'll find that MSN are having a lot of problems of late, theyve had a major update, and not everything works as it should just yet. Thats the only problem with the net, because its 24/7, you can never really turn it off for very long to check it works right... Im sure they will sort it sooner rather than later.

although i know nothing about this sort of thing,to me it sounds as though it's your pc having conflictions with MSN and not them. Looks like you need to uninstall messenger and download and reinstall it again. is it the latest version? pplus have you got your firewall on?

probs best leaving this one to wingman! LOL
